Parent to Parent Book Discussion

Read books that challenge, inspire, and help us as we work with our children and the students in our district. Cultivating Empathy and Building Resilience in our Children to Prevent Bullying

We will explore the most recent data from our children and young people about their feelings and perceptions of engagement, safety, and belonging. The great majority of our time together will be exploring how we can help to develop the social-emotional competencies that our children/young people need to live happy and healthy lives. Among the topics we will address are bullying prevention, empathy cultivation, and resilience building.

Battle of the Books Coaches’ Kick-off Meeting

Team registration forms for Battle of the Books will be available on the Library’s website beginning Monday, November 27th. Registration is limited to the first twelve teams to return their registration form. Teams consist of students in 5th or 6th grade that live or attend school in Novi. All teams must register by this meeting or a place for their team is not guaranteed. At this meeting titles for this year’s Battle will be announced, a set of books for each team will be distributed, and a discussion of coaches’ responsibilities will be conducted. Coaches will also have the opportunities to see a DVD of a previous year’s Battle. Bring your questions and, if you’ve been a coach before, your suggestions for “newbies!”

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Unity Breakfast and Essay Contest “Vision For a Unified Nation”

Let’s celebrate unity! Join us for a FREE delicious hot breakfast, music, speakers, and fellowship. Adults, teens, and youth may submit a poem or essay, 500 words or less, on “My Vision For a Unified Nation”. Winners will be selected from each age category, announced at the breakfast, receive a prize. Finalists will receive a unity certificate of recognition. Grand Prizes will be awarded. Email essays and poems to Gail Anderson; ganderson@novilibrary.org  by January 8th. If a student, include name, grade, school, and contact information. Children participants, middle school or younger must provide parent or guardian contact information. You must register for the breakfast if you plan to attend. Winners of the essay contest must attend the breakfast.
