TEEN SPACE

Teen Space is offered to students in grades 7-12, Monday-Friday from 2-5pm in the West Meeting Room. Teen Space is not in session during school breaks or summer.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD

Join the TAB as we create and plan programs for teens at the Library. Meeting attendance will count as volunteer time.  Click here for more information on the Teen Advisory Board.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in volunteering? The Teen Services Department is looking for students going into grades 7-12 to volunteer throughout the school year and during the Summer Reading Program. Volunteers should be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working with people of all ages. Applications to volunteer are available online (novilibrary.org). You must attend the Teen Volunteer Orientation on either April 24 or April 26. If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Fricke at lfricke@novilibrary.org or 248-869-7218.

Build a Better World Novi Public Library Summer Reading Program

Our Summer Reading Program begins on Monday, May 15, and continues until Saturday, August 5. You will be able to go online or come into the Library to sign up. Teen volunteers will be on hand to assist you with the registration process. There are two separate programs for middle school and high school age students: Tweens going into grades 4-6 Teens going into grades 7-12 Additional information may be found in the Summer Reading Program brochures distributed in the schools in May, on our website novilibrary.org, and at the Library.

Teen Volunteer Orientation Summer Reading Program

This is a required orientation meeting Beyond Books for teens who have already submitted applications to be volunteers. You may attend either meeting. Information and demonstration of new software will be presented by staff followed by a Q&A.

Maker Tween Club

Tuesday, 6:00-7:30pm

Join us for a fun, hands-on robotics demonstration by the Sylvan Learning Center of Novi. Your child will learn how to build and program robots with LEGO bricks and software—all while making friends, developing new skills and having a great time with STEM. During the demo, the student will build a sophisticated robot while engaging in open-ended problem solving activities.

Study Skills Survival Guide

Teens and their parents are invited to a study skills workshop presented by Sylvan Learning Center of Novi to discuss time management, note taking, reading and study strategies, and test taking. Students will learn the proper way to use their student planner, how to produce a study schedule, and different study techniques and useful tips.

Summer Carnival Extravaganza at Fuerst Park

Teen After Hours Party

Complete the Teen Summer Reading Program and earn a pass to the After Hours Party. Teens take over the Library to play games, eat pizza, make your own sundae, watch a movie, win prizes and more! Permission slip required and will be emailed to participants who sign up. No admittance will be permitted after 6:45pm. Participants must be picked up no later than 9:45pm.
