Teen Volunteer Opportunities
Interested in volunteering? The Teen Services Department is looking for students going into grades 7-12 to volunteer throughout the school year and during the Summer Reading Program. Volunteers should be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working with people of all ages. Applications to volunteer are available online (novilibrary.org). Build a Better World Novi Public Library Summer Reading Program
Our Summer Reading Program begins on Monday, May 15, and continues until Saturday, August 5. You will be able to go online or come into the Library to sign up. Teen volunteers will be on hand to assist you with the registration process. There are two separate programs for middle school and high school age students: Tweens going into grades 4-6 Teens going into grades 7-12 Additional information may be found in the Summer Reading Program brochures distributed in the schools in May, on our website novilibrary.org, and at the Library.
Teen Volunteer Appreciation Event
Join us as we recognize all of our teen volunteers for their hard work throughout the year! Snacks will be served.
Teen Volunteer Orientation Summer Reading Program
This is a required orientation meeting Beyond Books for teens who have already submitted applications to be volunteers. You may attend either meeting. Information and demonstration of new software will be presented by staff followed by a Q&A.
Maker Tween Club
Join us for a fun, hands-on robotics demonstration by the Sylvan Learning Center of Novi. Your child will learn how to build and program robots with LEGO bricks and software—all while making friends, developing new skills and having a great time with STEM. During the demo, the student will build a sophisticated robot while engaging in open-ended problem solving activities.
Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Join us for our Cinco de Mayo Celebration with delicious snacks, including a buffet style of Mexican foods.
Study Skills Survival Guide
Teens and their parents are invited to a study skills workshop presented by Sylvan Learning Center of Novi to discuss time management, note taking, reading and study strategies, and test taking. Students will learn the proper way to use their student planner, how to produce a study schedule, and different study techniques and useful tips.
Kick-Off Teen Summer Party
The last day of school is the first day of summer fun at the Library. Join us for pizza, games, prizes, and more!
Summer Carnival Extravaganza at Fuerst Park
In partnership with Novi Parks and Recreation, join us as we celebrate the beginning of summer at our fabulous carnival at Fuerst Park. Enjoy face painting, carnival games, a petting farm, pony rides, and a bounce house. Food will be available for purchase from Nosh Pit Food Truck.

COMIC ART CAMP Create a Comic Strip
Have fun learning the basics of developing characters, creating dialog, sequencing your story, as well as penciling and inking your own comic strip.
Design your own T-shirt! Bring a prewashed, 100% cotton T-shirt to the Library.
Participate in fun, engaging activities that explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
Tween SRP Read-a-thon
Ready to have some fun while you rack up reading minutes toward the Summer Reading Program? Bring your books and join us for a 3 hour reading marathon with breaks for snacks, games, and prizes! Feel free to bring along pillows and blankets to get comfy!
DIY Animal Shelter Blankets
Participate in an easy project that will make a big difference and earn community service hours. Help us make no sew fleece blankets that will be donated to a local animal shelter.
Have fun learning the basics of developing a character and bringing it to life.
Rock Wall Climbing Adventure
Join us for the ultimate rock wall climbing adventure! Event will be held outside near Fuerst Park. You must wear tennis shoes (no flip flops allowed) to participate.
Teen After Hours Party
Complete the Teen Summer Reading Program and earn a pass to the After Hours Party. Teens take over the Library to play games, eat pizza, make your own sundae, watch a movie, win prizes and more! Permission slip required and will be emailed to participants who sign up. No admittance will be permitted after 6:45pm. Participants must be picked up no later than 9:45pm.
