Privacy and Public Computing at NPL - In our ongoing effort to protect patron privacy, NPL will be making some policy and procedural changes to our public terminals. Starting in September, when a patron ends a computer session, the PC will automatically log out and perform a RESTART.  This process will erase any and all files, documents, downloads, bookmarks, history and all temporary files that may have been created and left on the PC and prevent accidental data/meta-data leaks.  Signage and other notices will be placed at and around public terminals prior to the change to remind patrons of the new security procedures and to save their work often to avoid any inadvertent data loss.
