Raising a Reader – 1000 Books before Kindergarten

The Novi Public Library and the Novi Community School District are partnering in a year round preschool reading initiative supporting parents and caregivers in the goal of reading 1,000 books with their children before they enter kindergarten. It is never too early to begin developing enjoyable reading experiences with children and contribute toward their readiness to learn to read when they enter school. Summer is a great time to begin or continue reading toward the goal of 1,000 books!  Thank you to the Friends of the Novi Library, Vibe Credit Union, Novi Rotary, and Novi Community School District for sponsoring this program!

Dog Days at the Library

Read to a dog! Children are encouraged to practice their reading skills with a very patient listener; a therapy dog. Call the library to schedule a 15 minute appointment between 6:30pm and 8pm.

Rockin’ Birthday Bash

In partnership with Novi Parks and Recreation join us in Fuerst Park as we celebrate the start of the Summer Reading Program and the Sizzling Summer Art Series’ 10th Birthday with all of the essentials of an awesome birthday party. Enjoy face painting, games, a petting farm, pony and horse rides, balloon sculpting, inflatables, music, cupcake decorating, music, and a movie at dusk. Food will be available for purchase. Maybury Farm Story Time

Young children will enjoy a story time followed by a farm-themed activity including music, art, games and small group interaction with one of our young farm animals. Story time is free with admission to the Farm which includes a self-guided tour of over 70 farm animals, U-pick farm garden, play-ground and picnic area. Farm admission is $3.00 per person and children 2 and under are free. Additional story times are available every Wednesday and Thursday from June – September. For questions, call 248-916-3033.Tractor-drawn wagon rides available every Wednesday after story time for an additional $3.00 per person (children 2 and under free).

MSU Tollgate Farm Children’s Garden Story Hour

Preschoolers ages 2-5 will enjoy a story time and participate in engaging activities; such as process- based art, moving to music, or a game. Novi Library 3-D Derby
