Get involved with the Library by joining our Teen Advisory Board (TAB)! All students grades 7-12 (not limited to Novi residents) are welcome. Share ideas for teen programs, organize community service projects, unwind with fun activities and support your Library! It’s a great way to help out in your community and let the Library know what matters to you. If you are passionate about teen services, we would love for you to join TAB!
TAB Mission
The Novi Public Library Teen Advisory Board (TAB) strives to improve Library services for teens by:
- Providing a forum for teens to brainstorm ideas and feedback on Library services
- Collaborating on service projects that serve our community
- Leading fun activities that promote community and literacy
- Planning, implementing and participating in teen programs
- Creating a welcoming atmosphere at the library by maintaining a safe, inviting teen area
- Sharing ideas regarding the young adult collection
- Encouraging teens to read and share their interests
Who is in TAB?
All students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join. You do not need to live or go to school in Novi to join. While there is no formal process to join TAB, we encourage teens to attend consistently, especially if they are interested in a leadership role!
Our five TAB Officers take responsibility for planning and leading the meetings. Officer elections are held at the annual May meeting, unless otherwise specified, which appoints officers for the following 9-month term, beginning in September.
When Are the Meetings?
TAB meetings are held monthly from September through May on a Friday at 3:30-4:30pm. To view and register for upcoming TAB meetings, see our Program Calendar.
Why Should You Join?
- Brainstorm ideas to make the Library a better place
- Spend time with other teens who are passionate about reading and community services
- Make a difference in your community
- Enjoy fun activities and good snacks
