NPL has several different types of spaces available for various uses, such as studying, conducting meetings, reading, socialization and more. Please read below to see what space(s) will work best for your needs.

NPL has 10 study rooms that can be used on a first come, first served basis. These rooms are designed to be used for in-person or virtual meetings and for group study/projects.

  • Located on both the 1st and 2nd floors.
  • Study rooms are first come, first served. No reservations accepted. Free to use.
  • No residency restrictions.
  • No time limits, however, rooms left unattended for 10 or more minutes will be forfeited and personal items will be moved to lost and found.
  • All ages.
  • Food and covered beverages are allowed.
  • Can be used by individuals or for groups of 2 to 6, depending on the room size:
    • 5 rooms accommodate up to 2 people.
    • 3 rooms accommodate up to 4 people.
    • 2 rooms accommodate up to 6 people.
  • Includes outlets, Wi-Fi and a chalkboard.

NPL has 6 meeting rooms available for the public to rent for a fee, if not being used for Library activities. These spaces are designed for meetings, workshops, parties, etc. Learn more about our meeting rooms, including capacities and pricing, as well as to view availability and submit a reservation request.

  • Located on both the 1st and 2nd floors.
  • Meeting room reservations may be made up to 60 days in advance. Cost varies by room.
  • No residency restrictions (Novi residents/organizations receive a discounted fee).
  • Time limits vary by room.
  • You must be 18 years or older to rent a meeting room.
  • Food and beverages are allowed. See our Meeting Room Policy for more information.
  • Capacities vary by room, from 10 to 162 people.
  • Includes outlets, Wi-Fi and AV equipment available to rent.

NPL has one large Quiet Study Room that is designed to be a quiet place for individuals to have either a carrel space or an armchair with folding table to work, study or read on their own in a distraction-free environment.

•    Located in the middle of the 2nd floor, next to the Information Desk.
•    Seating is first come, first served. 
•    No residency restrictions.
•    No time limits.
•    All ages.
•    No food allowed, only covered beverages.
•    Maximum capacity of 9 people.
•    Includes outlets and Wi-Fi. No cell phone usage allowed.

NPL has one single user booth. This booth is soundproof and is designed to be used by an individual to take a phone call, participate in a virtual meeting, etc.

• Single user booth is first come, first served. No reservations accepted.
• No residency restrictions.
• No time limits.
• All ages.
• No food allowed, only covered beverages.
• Maximum capacity of 1 person.
• Includes outlets and Wi-Fi.

 

NPL’s Teen Lounge has several different seating options available specifically for students in grades 7-12 to read, study, work in small groups or hang out.


• Located on the 2nd floor, next to the iCube Makerspace.
• Seating is first come, first served.
• Limited to students in grades 7-12, but adults may accompany students if needed.
• Food and covered beverages are allowed.
• Maximum capacity of 35 people.
• Includes outlets, a phone charging station and Wi-Fi.
• For an additional teen area, check out NPL’s after-school Teen Space.

NPL’s Youth Area, including the computers, seating and play area, is designed for children ages 0 through 8th grade and their caregivers to read, play, learn and socialize.

• Located on the 1st floor, past the stairs and to the left.
• Seating and computers are first come, first served.
• Limited to children ages 0 through 8th grade and their caregivers.
• Food and covered beverages are allowed.
• Includes some outlets and Wi-Fi.

NPL’s patio is typically open April through October and is designed for people to read, work, study or hang out while enjoying the outdoors. Please note, this space is sometimes used for Library programming in the summer; check our calendar for dates/times.

  • Located on the 1st floor, on the side of the building, adjacent to Fuerst Park.
  • All seating and tables are first come, first served.
  • Library patio rentals are available for private events before or after Library hours.
  • Food and covered beverages are allowed.
  • Does not include outlets but does include Wi-Fi.

NPL has additional seating areas throughout the building that patrons are welcome to use for reading, working, studying, meeting and socialization. Please keep in mind that the 1st floor typically has more activity and conversation, while the 2nd floor is recommended as a quiet zone.

  • All seating and tables are first come, first served.
  • Food and covered beverages are allowed.
  • A phone charging station is located on the 2nd floor, near the couches. Outlets and Wi-Fi are also available throughout both the 1st and 2nd floors.

NPL’s iCube Makerspace includes many different pieces of equipment and technology that can be used for personal and professional projects. Learn more about the iCube.

  • Located on the 2nd floor, next to the Teen Lounge.
  • Green Equipment usage is first come, first served. iCube appointments can be made for Yellow Equipment and Red Equipment, or visit the iCube during staffed hours.
  • All ages are allowed, but children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver aged 18 and older.
  • No food allowed, only covered beverages.
  • Maximum capacity of 17 people.

NPL’s Local History Room provides materials that record the history and development of Novi, greater Oakland County and surrounding areas. Local History Room information.

  • Located on the 2nd floor, near the elevators.
  • Due to the nature of the collection housed in this room, it cannot be reserved or opened for private use.
  • Patrons wanting to use the resources in the Local History Room can visit during open office hours on the first Monday of the month, 10:30am-12:30pm, and the third Monday of the month, 6-8pm (July and August are by appointment only). 
  • Appointments can also be made to use the resources outside of open office hours if needed.
  • No food or beverages are allowed.
